Standing with immigrants before the Supreme Court

by Armando Bellmas

Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for and against Arizona’s anti-immigrant law, SB 1070. Thousands of immigrant rights activists and allies traveled to Washington DC to show that they stand for pro-immigrant legislation and against discriminatory laws like Arizona’s.

Here in Charlotte, the Latin American Coalition hosted a We Are NC solidarity vigil to stand with immigrants and against hate and discrimination. The event was led by passionate pro-immigrant remarks from Pastor Danny Busquette of Latin Harvest Time Church, Charlotte City Councilman John Autry, and members of our youth group United 4 The Dream.
